My name is Nicola and I am an experienced Yoga teacher and Reflexologist specialising in Hormonal Health (Fertility, Peri-Menopause, Menopause) and Yoga for Sport and Athletes. My business, NKB Holistic, was established in 2018 after working for over 30 years in the public sector.
Who I Was
I spent six years in the Army during that time I served with the UN in Bosnia for 6 months before leaving as a single parent with a young baby. I joined Lancashire Constabulary as a Police Officer and latterly as a Detective Constable before a health scare led to a serious mental health crisis that resulted in me losing my power of speech resulting in early retirement following 25 years with the force.
Thats who I was.
Not defeated or defined by my past. This is where I have come from and is what has lead me to who and where I am now, Empowered.
I believe in the power benefits of reflexology
Drawing on pre existing strength and knowledge of my personal experiences I provide services to individuals and organisations to enhance physical and mental wellbeing, maximise performance, achieve balance and life goals.
I am fascinated by reflexology and am constantly amazed by what the feet can reveal and the fantastic outcomes from regular treatments. I trained as a reflexologist during my recovery and believe so much in the powerful benefits of the modality I have further trained in Pregnancy and Menopause Reflexology with Sally Earlam and Reproductive Reproreflexology for natural and assisted fertility along with further Menopause training with Barbara Scott. I am also a member of The Association of Reproductive Reflexologists.
I also like to use crystals and am interested in what stories feet can tell us with a little bit of foot reading.
I am passionate about female wellbeing and supporting women to achieve their potential, their goals and helping them to keep doing what they love….be that work, sport or simply living life to the full.
I am a keen cyclist and triathlete and initially found yoga around 20 years ago.
I am now in my 50’s and I took up Yoga in the early 2000’s as running had started to cause injury.
Yoga not only stretched out my physical body but the breath work, mindfulness and relaxation calmed my chattering mind and helped me to focus when the anxiety and nerves kicked in at the start of a sporting event.
In 2019 I took my first 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Emily Young and I have further trained with Sarah Ramsden www.sportsyoga.co.uk who taught Yoga at Manchester United and Manchester City football clubs for many years.
I have completed 80 hours The Body Athletic - Teaching Yoga to Athletes & in Sport
and a further 60 hours training The Body Aligned – Yoga, Functional Anatomy & Injury.
I am a Yoga Alliance Professionals member
I have created NKB Sport Performance to provide Yoga, Breath Work and Mindfulness in Sport and to Athletes.
To continue with my growth and to support others with their journey and wellbeing I gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice (Coaching and Mentoring ) with Lancaster University. Having left school with a few GCSE’s many years ago this was an interesting and challenging process. To continue my growth I am about to begin a BSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology with Staffordshire University.
My aim is to hold a safe and relaxing space for therapy clients and yoga students to explore what helps them calm and soothe their mind and body.
